Bob the Collie wasn't as famous as Lassie, but he was famous nonetheless. For about six years he was a familiar and welcomed sight to hundreds of people daily. Bob was the dog on Van Buren Street with the peculiar habit of sticking his head through a small square pane of a busted out window. He seemed to like watching the traffic. They may not have known the guy who lived in the house, but just about everybody who traveled Van Buren Street knew Bob.
Ode to Bob
Huge constant smile.
The goofy, meandering gait of an old drunk.
Perfectly timed burps, always with a human face nearby.
The social skills of a booger-eating second grader. That was Bob.
Always endearing,
Always gentle,
He loved people with unbridled enthusiasm, and lived every day as if he was still a puppy.
We think he had a good life,
And we will miss him dearly.
He'll be forever chasing rabbits and herding sheep in his dreams.
